Britain’s Felicity Coulthard finished sixth in the grade II individual championship test at Sha Tin racecourse in Hong Kong this morning scoring 65.55%.
The Lancashire-based Paralympic debutant said her first ride in front of a big crowd will help her produce a medal-winning performance in the freestyle later this week, a competition where the riders design their own test and set it to music. In the individual championship each grade rides the same test.
“It was not how I was expecting it in the ring,” she said. “I didn’t really notice the crowd and I enjoyed it.
“I’m very happy with the horse and looking forward to the freestyle now. The music I have really suits him and I probably have a better chance of getting a medal in that competition.”
The 24-year-old won bronze in the grade II freestyle on her first appearance for GB at the 2007 world championships.
The remaining British riders will contest their individual championship tests tomorrow (Tuesday 9 September).
