Eleanor Simmonds took her second gold medal of the British Gas Swimming Championships 2009 with a strong performance in the women’s 200m Individual Medley.
Simmonds, who broke the 400m Freestyle world record yesterday, took the title and looked impressive in this evening’s final.
The SM6 swimmers took the gold medal with a time of 3:16.07 and a total of 955 points. Natalie Jones (Colchester Phoenix, SM6) took silver after finishing just behind Simmonds with a time of 3:16.76.
The bronze medal went to Eleni Papadopoulos (City of Sunderland, SM10) in 2:43.87 and a total of 824 points. Kelly College’s Louise Watkin, who came fourth, lowered the SM9 British record with an excellent performance after touching with a time of 2:40.25.
City of Oxford’s Danielle Watts took the gold medal in the women’s 50m Backstroke event with a time of 1:31.80 and a total of 516 points.
