Kenya's Prisons (yellow) defeated the host team of Mauritius Black Rangers | Vacoas, Mauritius, May 14, 2010- Kenya Prisons, Kenya Commercial Bank, Kenya Pipeline and Bafia Evolution from Cameroon secured the four tickets to the semifinals of the 2010 Women’s African Club Championship after they won their quarterfinal matches here at Panditahadeo Hall in Mauritius on Friday. The four teams will compete for the two tickets to the final spot when they play the semis on Saturday.
While Kenya Prisons easily won the first quarterfinal against Mauritian side Black Rangers in three straight sets (25-15, 25-19, 25-23), Commercial Bank had to hold off the challenge of Bejaia. The Algerian side was leading the 2-1 and on the verge of the semis before the experience of Commercial Bank told with the Kenyans clinching the fourth set 30-28. After this hard fought set win, KCB dominated their opponents in all sectors of the game to reach the semis, winning the tie break 15-8. KCB will face Prisons in the semis.
Bafia Evolution will be the only Cameroon side in the semis after beating compatriots INJS 3-1. Bafia Evolution played their best to stop INJS’s attackers having lost the first set 25-9 before going on to clinch the fourth set 26-24.
Meanwhile, Kenya Pipeline managed to beat Army Patriotic 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-22) from Rwanda in three sets to book a meeting with Bafia Evolution in the semis.
