Second victory for Romania and the Czech Republic in Gabrovo
With host Bulgaria having a rest day, Romania tops the standings in Gabrovo
Gabrovo, Bulgaria, - The two central power failures in Gabrovo during today’s first match of the 2nd Round Tournament leading to the 2010 FIVB Women’s World Championships in Japan, gave the Czech Republic team more hard time than their opponents on the field.
The Czechs defeated Moldova in straight sets (25-16, 25-10, 25-15) encountering some problems only before the first technical time-out of the first set, when Moldova maintained a slight lead. Aneta Havlickova was once again the match top scorer. She registered 15 points with Helena Havelkova adding 13. Mariana Diakonita was Moldova’s top scorer with 8 points.
Romania managed to repeat its performance from yesterday to win another three-setter, this time against Albania (25-11, 25-15, 25-15). With 5 points from 3 matches Romania now tops the table, in front of Bulgaria and the Czech Republic with 4 points from 2 games each. Carmen Turlea was Romania’s most prolific player. She accounted for 13 points in this match, while Klonarda Nezaj with 9 points was again the top scorer for Albania.
