Scotland Coach, Keith Joss, said these matches “will be our most difficult games in the lead up to Lithuania [EuroHockey Trophy].” Joss continued “We’re on a winning roll and we’re not going to give anything away to England. Hopefully we’ll be able to push them. I’m not expecting us to lose these games.”
The Senior Women are coming off two straight wins against Belgium last week in Largs. Scotland’s Ailsa Robertson scored the lone goal in the first match while Holly Cram put two away to defeat Belgium 2-1 last Friday.
Looking ahead, on top of uncapped matches the squad will also hold two training sessions whilst in Manchester. Former Scotland Goal Keeper, Sue Mitchell, will attend the sessions to focus not only on goal keeping but also penalty corner defence.
Of the whole trip Joss commented: “This will be a good indicator of where we are at against better teams. I expect the games to be tight.” He also mentioned Louise Munn wouldn’t be attending this trip as she is on holiday, and a few spaces for the squad headed for Lithuania are still open.
Uncapped matches against England take place 3rd August at 19:30 and 5th August 10:30 both a Belle Vue.
