Sarah Mason Set To Take On World's Best at Oakley World Pro Junior Bali
After a long delay at Heathrow airport Sarah Mason has arrived in Bali just in time to begin her campaign for the 2011 ASP Women's World Junior Title on Monday at the Oakley World Pro Junior Bali, stop one of three on the 2011 ASP World Junior Tour.
Sarah travelled to Bali from the World Qualifying Event in the Azores Islands where she was left one place short of 2012 WCT qualification after tying with French surfer Justine Dupont on overall points and having the nod for qualification go Dupont's way on a count back. Sarah has indicated that she will now be refocusing and looking to finish 2011 strongly as she takes on the world's best juniors in the world class waves of Bali.
Last year’s Bali event saw surfers putting on cutting edge performances at Canggu and exchanging in "barrel shootouts" at Keramas. This year's competition will no doubt follow suit boasting a prize purse of US$75,000 and a twelve day waiting period to guarantee the best conditions. The international field will see two surfers from each of the six world regions represented - Australasia, North America, South America, Japan, Europe and South Africa. The winner will be crowned along side the 2011 ASP Men's and Women's World Tour Champions at the ASP World Tour Banquet in February 2012.
