England No 8 Sarah Hunter wants team and individual performances from England to replenish their dominance in the Six Nations after last year’s fourth-placed finish.
The 30-year-old will captain England throughout the tournament with 73 caps to her name and she was a key member of the 2014 squad that became World Champions.

“You always look towards the Six Nations as the highlight in the rugby calendar and now we’re here at the launch of it it’s getting ever closer,” said Hunter. “We’re still a week away but the excitement is buzzing and talking to the other captains, it’s a really exciting time.
“We’re in a positive place, we had a two day camp at the start of January and I think we’re just itching to get back together. We’ll have four days in camp together from Thursday to Sunday which will give us some really good preparation time moving towards Scotland.”
England Women played two friendlies in November as part of their Autumn International series losing to France away 11-0 and beating Ireland at Twickenham Stoop 8-3 in dramatic fashion with a last-minute try.
“The Autumn Internationals gave us that platform to see where we’re at," said Hunter. "Putting things into practice and winning at Twickenham Stoop against Ireland in the way we did pushed us on from France.

“We know it wasn’t perfect and we know there’s still things to work on but that’s what the four day camp will be for - to hopefully get some confidence on the back of a win against Ireland going into the Six Nations.
“I think last year obviously finishing fourth i’m not going to shy away from the fact that it’s not our standard so we’re looking for a team performance as well as individual performances to do better than last year.”
