England Netball is delighted to announce that Sara Symington has been appointed as the new Performance Director.
Sara joins us from Archery GB, where she has worked in a similar capacity for the previous five years. She has fantastic experience in managing the leadership of the Olympic, Paralympic and International programmes for Archery across the podium and development squads.
She has previously worked with UK Sport in a Performance Advisory role and during her athletic career she represented Great Britain at road and track cycling in two Olympic Games’, becoming the first-ever British woman to podium at World Cup level.
England Netball CEO, Joanna Adams said "I am thrilled to have secured such a high quality candidate to fill this extremely important position. Sara’s years of experience of working with athletes at an Olympic level will be invaluable as we push on towards our goal of becoming World Cup winners in 2019.
"Sara understands the culture of our sport and will be a fantastic asset for the Performance team in the years to come."
Phil Smith, Director of Sport at Sport England commented “I am delighted that England Netball has been successful in recruiting a high calibre individual such as Sara with her background and experience in high performance sport.
“I look forward to working closely with Sara and the team as England continue their preparations for the 2015 World Cup in Australia and in the longer term the 2019 World Cup being held in Liverpool.”
Sara is due to begin her position with England Netball next month.
