With the illness that postponed her season’s opener now behind her, the 2006 female World Athlete of the Year Sanya Richards catches us up with her latest IAAF Diary entry.
“Ah man....... My training was going so well the entire fall, I was itching to get started since I hadn't competed indoors, and out of no where I got sick. I wasn't worried about it at first because it was flu season and everyone had a little bug. Well, my virus was different, I saw six doctors in five weeks and it wasn't until I saw an infection specialist that I was given the right medication. I had flu-like symptoms, with terrible mouth ulcers that were so painful that I was unable to talk.”
