Russia and Korea win respective divisions in Antalya

In the afternoon the team finalists competed on an extraordinary field: the finals of the third World Cup stage took place on the beach of Antalya! Asia were in the place of honour in the Recurve division with Korea winning the women's. The team of Russia took gold in Women's compound.



Gold Medal: KOREA - CHINESE TAIPEI

Joo, Park and Yun for Korea open the gold final with 9-8-9 (26). Wei, Wu and Yuan from Chinese Taipei trail by 1 pt with 7-9-9 (25). Korea continue with three 9s and a total of 53. Chinese Taipei ties up shooting 10-9-9 (53). The Olympic Champion Park, new World Record holder (12-arrow match) Yun and their fellow Joo continue with another 10 and two 9s (81). The Koreans increase their lead at the half-way mark with 8-10-10 (109). Yuan and teammates score 9-9-8 and trail by 3 (106). Wei follows with 10, Wu with another 10 and Yuan with 7 for an intermediate total of 133. Team Korea shoots another strong series with 10-10-9 and take a 5-point lead (138). The archers from Chinese Taipei get 27 additional points (10-8-9/160). The difference between the two teams stabilizes with Korea shooting three 9s (165). Chinese Taipei starts the last end of six arrows with 9-9-10 (188). Korea follows with 10-9-9 (193) and the 5-point difference remains. Chinese Taipei finishes with 7-9-9 (213). The Korean favourites clinch a comfortable victory with two final 9s and a 10 (221)!


Bronze Medal: POLAND - CHINA

Zhang, Guo and Chen start with 9-10-8 (27) for China. The Polish Mospinek, Cwienczek and Marcinkiewicz open with 8-8-9 and trail by 2 (25). China ends the first 6-arrow series with 6-9-7 (49). Their opponents recover 1 point thanks to 6-9-8 (48). Poland shoots three strong arrows (10-9-10) and take the lead 77-76 (9-10-8 for China). However, the Asian ladies then shoot 9-10-9, while the Polish score 9-10-8, and the match is tied at the half-way mark. The 2006 World Cup Final winner Zhang and her teammates start the second part of this duel with 9-10-10 (133). Led by Mospinek, silver medalist at the second World Cup stage in Croatia, Poland takes the lead thanks to three perfect 10s (134). However, with three 9s, they let their contenders come back and tie up at 161 (9-10-9 for the Chinese). The two teams are very close and the winner is not decided yet... China scores 9-10-7 (187) and Poland regains the lead with 8-10-9 (188). The Chinese finish with 10-8-9 and total up 214 pts. Their opponents hand them victory with a low 8-8-9 last series (213)!
