RUISLIP Eagles regained the Women’s National Division One title with a dramatic 24- 22 victory over arch rivals Great Dane at Leyton on Sunday. After losing the title to Great Dane the previous year, the Eagles were determined to re-establish themselves as the top club in the country, but they were pushed all the way in a hugely entertaining match.
Great Dane reached the final after beating Northern champions Manchester 28-6 in the semi final on Saturday, where goalkeeper Carlotta Berruezo was named as player of the match after a superb performance. And she was also to play a key part in the following day’s final, where the two sides were never more than three goals apart.
