On Saturday 5 December The London Rollergirls presents their first league bout of the season – Ultraviolent Femmes vs Steam Rollers. With fresh new players this time around, both teams will be fighting for the first roller derby scalp of the season, just in time for Christmas.
Roller derby is one of the fastest growing sports for women, involving speed, strength and pure athleticism on rollerskates. Last season the Steam Rollers were pipped to the league championship and the Ultraviolent Femmes were left in third place, so this will be a hard fought bout to make sure one team gets a head start before the reigning league champions, the Suffra Jets, get a chance to defend their title.
It will be a great day out, with a charity raffle and cake sale in aid of Galop (London's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community safety charity), London Rollergirls’ finest DJs, merchandise on sale and an after party at an exclusive location, sponsored by Bulldog Gin.
With some of the best roller derby players in Europe playing, this bout promises to be an adrenaline-fuelled Winter Wonderslam! Get your tickets early and make sure you don’t miss out.
