Ruby Miller is the final addition to rider roster for Horizon Fitness RT for 2011. The young Welsh rider will be added to the already strong squad bringing the team up to 11 riders.
Ruby is a good all round rider, having won events on the track, road, MTB and Cyclo-Cross. Ruby won round 2 of the National Trophy series this winter and had some impressive results on the road during the 2011 season.
"Ruby is a great prospect and we know that we can help Ruby develop her potential. She’s always been impressive off road, but some her road results at the end of last season really caught my eye. The younger riders on the team are a great squad in their own right. It’ll be interesting how far they can push things in 2011." commented team manager Stefan Wyman on the signing.
"I’m sure Ruby can learn a lot from the older riders on the squad, and with a road focus for the summer of 2011 we’ll see how far Ruby can go. She’ll still do a little MTB where it fits with her program, but I’m really looking forward to seeing her in a team environment." Continued Wyman
Ruby raced in Holland during 2010 in the Omloop van Borsele taking 19th place on Stage 4 and also took part in several major road events in the UK, including the Essex Giro 2 Day.
"The squad looks good, and we’ll be all together in April in Italy where we start the Mpire Training Centre. We’re currently planning 2 weeks of racing in Belgium before the camp, before we start the serious business of building up for our professional racing calendar which will really kick-in during the second half of the season. A lot of riders are building towards 2012, and we’ll have to balance all of these ambitions and commitments with the team’s goals. But I really feel we have good strength in depth and it’ll be interesting to see if the younger riders can step up to the mark when the opportunities come up." summarised Wyman when considering his squad for 2011.
