Following their defeat by the narrowest of margins against the Netherlands yesterday, an inspired Great Britain came on to court today just before midday at the NIA, Birmingham to take on the current Paralympic champions (and winners of four World Cups so far) ,the Canadians. The “developing side” just get better each game and their refreshing more positive playing style had them ahead at the end of each quarter until the last (1) 14-9, (2) 27-24 (3) 35-34, but the Canadians took the victory 54-49.
As in the Paralympic World Cup , Manchester, for Canada, # 5 Janet McLachlan was their most formidable asset with an awesome 24 points and 20 rebounds ( including 17 in defence ) with (#7)Cindy Ouellet (14 ) ; (#9)Chantal Benoit on 6 and (#12)Tracey Ferguson 6.
