Two goals from Jade Mayne helped Canterbury to a 3-1 lead, with Sarah Kerly scoring the other. However, Reading pulled it back to 3-3 at the break through Jess Brooker, Susie Gilbert and Sam Quek.
Canterbury took the lead with Nikki Triggs scoring on 45 minutes, only for Reading to pull level again with a 53rd minute goal from Emma Thomas.
Lucy Hyams put the visitors back in front on 61 minutes, but Brooker's second goal for Reading gave them a share of the spoils on 63 minutes.
