Raven's Director Vicki Bacon

Raven's Director Vicki Bacon

100 foot abseil for Ravens’ Director

A busy week for the Ravens with the women’s squad started on Wednesday with great numbers and a enthusiastic kick off to the new season, Thursday was another progressive session for the Junior Ravens with many new players and also a new coach. But with a Sunday friendly for the first team this weekend it’s the club committee to take the spot light in the form of Director Victoria Bacon.

Vicki, on Saturday morning could be found some 100 feet up on the roof of House of Fraser (on Fremlin Walk) in the heart of Maidstone in Kent, she was taking part in the ‘Kent Charity Challenge’ to help raise money for Kent Hospices. Rising over 300 pound for the charity she abseiled down the highest point of the building early on Saturday morning with a crowd there to cheer her on.

“It wasn’t easy stepping over the edge to start, though with people here to watch I felt confident enough to abseil down quickly and it was great to do something like this while raising money for a charity too” said Vicki firmly back on solid ground after the event.

Next week will see the start of the Conference Premier South league season for the first team as they take on Ipswich Rhinos in Colchester on Saturday, while the season for the Junior Ravens gets to a critical stage as team look to cement their challenge for the play off spots.

If you’re interested in joining the Kent Ravens please get in contact by emailing [email protected] calling 07707 852 952 or by seeing our web site at www.kentravens.co.uk otherwise you can just turn up at training at 7:30pm on Wednesday for seniors and Junior train on Thursdays at 7:00pm.
