COCO HO ELIMINATED Alessa advanced along with Australia’s Keely Andrew from the final heat of the round, a clash which saw Swatch Proteam surfer Coco Ho eliminated from competition. “Yeah I’m pretty disappointed to lose out there,” admitted Coco. “The conditions were tough, and luck wasn’t really on my side. The result doesn’t really affect my rankings badly but I’m still bummed, I love this event and wanted to stay in it as long as possible.”
LOCAL FRENCH SURFERS HOLD THEIR OWN Meanwhile local French surfers had a mixed morning, with Alizee Arnaud and Johanne Defay advancing, and Maud Le Car losing out. “When the onshore wind comes up you really need to choose your waves carefully,” said Alizee. “We don’t hear the scores being read out either so it’s an extra challenge, reading the lineup, assessing the situation and trying to get the best waves. I’m really happy to advance. I’ve been practicing on this sandbar for a while now and that’s ideal preparation for these mixed conditions we’re getting.”
