Reigning Queensland Open champions Sharyn Renshaw, Claire Duke and Julie Keegan are through to the triples final, the only twist being, they will be on opposing sides of the green.
Despite last year’s success, Keegan opted to play with former Scottish international Kay Moran and world number six Karen Murphy at Ipswich, while Renshaw and Duke recruited Australian under-25 representative Carla Odgers to fill her void.
The move will pay dividends for at least one of the combinations, but exactly who that is remains to be decided.
Renshaw, Odgers and Duke have taken a giant leap forward in their bid to reclaim the crown after convincingly defeating reigning Australian Open champions Kelsey Cottrell, Anne Johns and Lynsey Armitage 8-6, 12-4.
In the other semi-final, Kay Moran, Julie Keegan and Karen Murphy comprehensively defeated Debbie Logan, Chris Black and Christine Baxter 10-6, 10-3, to set up the enticing champions play off tomorrow afternoon.
The 2011 Queensland Open women’s triples final will be staged at the Ipswich United Services Bowls Club at 3pm tomorrow.
