Puerto Rico girls travel to Spain to prepare for the FIVB Girls' Youth Volleyball World Championships
San Juan, Puerto Rico, F– Puerto Rico's girls' youth team will prepare for their fifth outing at the FIVB Girls' Youth Volleyball World Championship later this year by travelling to Barcelona, Spain for a special training camp ahead of the tournament.
Puerto Rico last took part in the Girls' Youth World Championship in 2007, finishing 15th. They will return to the world stage at this year's event in Ankara, Turkey, which runs from August 12-21.
The Puerto Rican players are presently taking part in their Junior National League but their build-up to the World Championship will involve a friendly international tournament in Peru in March where they will take on Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Chile and the hosts. They will also get competition practice at the very first U-18 Pan American Cup due to take place in Mexico.
