Plummer turns up the heat for final selection camp

With a squad of 22 players vying for just 12 spots, Plummer is looking for a versatile and a holistic unit that can adapt to the demands of a World Championship campaign.

“We are split over a couple of decisions, but we are looking for variety within the team to ensure all bases are covered if we do have an injury during the competition,” Plummer said.

“We will try a couple of our shooters in wing attack in case they are required there, and the same at the defence end in the circle and on the wing. “

The 17-strong Australian squad will be joined by invitees Madison Browne, Renae Hallinan,
Kimberley Purcell, Kate Beveridge and Laura Geitz at the four day selection camp this evening at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

And with only 45 days remaining and the pressure building ahead of the New World Netball World
Championships in Auckland, the message from the coach heading into camp is clear.
“We want every player to give it their best shot, this is the World Championships so nothing but the best will do,” Plummer said.

The New World Netball World Championships from November 10-17 features 16 nations in action at Auckland`s Trusts Stadium.

Australia is currently ranked number two in the world behind the New Zealand Silver Ferns.
