The Scandinavian duo of Suzann Pettersen and Maria Hjorth are among the leading contenders for spots in Team International for the Lexus Cup in December after recent tournament wins. The duo quickly erased their disappointment of playing in Europe’s losing Solheim Cup team, each carding a brace of good performances in the Navistar LPGA Classic and the Longs Drugs Challenge.
Hjorth held off Stacy Prammanasudh to win the US$1.3 million Navistar LPGA Classic on the last day of September and followed up a week later with a tied-8th finish in the US$1.1 million Longs Drugs Challenge, the event which Pettersen won. Pettersen had finished tied-11th a week earlier in the Navistar and the pair could prove to be steady hands for Team International captain Annika Sorenstam.
