In arguably the most exciting match of the 2011 Beijing China Open’s Womens Singles Tournament Andrea Petkovic defeated Marion Bartoli in an instant classic.

In a nearly three hour match, the two women pushed each other to the limit. Bartoli's late match heroics were cut short as she lost to No. 11 ranked Petkovic; 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.

Petkovic was up five games to one and seemed to be cruising to victory when Bartoli turned things around. She was absolutely electric, fighting off six match points and winning four games in a row.

The German showed great poise as she waited out No. 10 ranked Bartoli’s comeback, notching two aces and a decisive break in the final two games.

In the final match of the day, Women's Doubles team Vania King (USA) and Yaroslava Shedova (KAZ) cruised to an easy win over the Italian team, Sara Errani and Robera Vinci; 6-1, 6-2.

The two will move on to play the winner of the Jamila Gajdosova-Andrea Klepac and Daniela Hantuchova-Agniezka Radawaska match in the quarter-finals of the Women's Doubles tournament.

Petkovic has punched her ticket to the round of 16 in style, where she awaits the winner between Anastasia Pavlyuchekova and Victoria Azarenka.
