Pentathlon British quartet safely through to final
Four British women will contest Friday¹s individual final at the Modern Pentathlon European Junior Championships after Freyja Prentice, Kate French, Kerry Prise and Lydia Rosling all qualified comfortably from the semis in Poland today (Wednesday).
With a top-18 place required in each semi to secure a final berth in Drzonkow, Prentice and French finished third and fifth respectively in semi-final B, with Prise third in semi A and Rosling 10th.
³There were no problems today, with all four girls going through to the final,² said Istvan Nemeth, Pentathlon GB Women¹s Head Coach. ³We¹re looking forward to a day¹s rest tomorrow (Thursday) and then the final on Friday.²

Prise went into the run/shoot in 15th place with some work to do to be sure of a place in the final, but her time of 12:41.39 was the fourth best of the semi and made sure she qualified comfortably. She finished two seconds behind Germany¹s Anne Hackel and Hungary¹s Adrienn Toth, who crossed the finish line together.
Rosling also qualified comfortably in 10th in semi A, finishing 34 seconds clear of the dreaded 19th place.
Rosling started the day well, winning 18 of her 40 fencing bouts for joint 14th, with Prise joint 16th after winning 17 contests. Rosling produce the fifth fastest swim of the semi with a time of 2:19.56 while Prise¹s 2:23.44 was the ninth quickest. That put Rosling up to 10th going into the run/shoot with Prise 15th.
Prentice and French both made encouraging starts in semi-final B. That group started in the pool Prentice¹s 2:24.24 was 13th fastest and French¹s 2:24.98 was 14th.
The pair both moved into the top-10 following the fencing. French impressed, winning 26 of her 38 bouts to climb to second place going into the run/shoot, while Prentice won 21 contests to climb to ninth.
Prentice¹s run/shoot time of 13:07.30 was the fourth best time in the semi to make sure the world junior number four eased into the final finishing two seconds behind semi winner Gintare Vencskauskaite, with French a second further back.
The British trio of French, Prentice and Rosling have already collected a gold medal after winning the team relay on the opening day of the championships.
The European Junior Championships continue tomorrow (Thursday) when Jamie Cooke, James Myatt, Daniel Worrall and Ollie Robinson represent GB in the men¹s qualifiers.
