New Zealand's Sophie Pascoe claimed the Gold in the 100m SB9 Medal in the pool today. Sarai Gascon from Spain claimed the silver while GB's Louise Watkin won bronze.

Sixteen-year-old Louise Watkin won her second medal of the Games in a dramatic 100m women's backstroke (S8), taking bronze to go with the silver she won in the women's 100m freestyle (S9) on day two (Monday 8 September).

Although New Zealand’s Sophie Pascoe and Spain’s Sarai Gascon comfortably won gold and silver respectively, Watkin stretched to take bronze as five finishers finished within 0.71 seconds. Kate Grey finished fifth, the 19-year-old just 0.25 behind her teammate.

"I am gob smacked I got bronze,” said Watkin. “I came from the outside lane and no-one saw me coming. Nor did they expect it, but I didn't expect to win that medal either. I am just extremely pleased, two medals from two races is excellent."
