Ochoa in position for three-peat at Sybase Classic
Rolex Rankings' number one Lorena Ochoa (68-67=135, -9) made her move atop the leaderboard during Saturday's second round of the Sybase Classic Presented by ShopRite, carding a field-best 5-under-par 67. After rain washed out Friday's action, the tournament was shortened from it's originally scheduled 72 holes to 54, and Ochoa improved from a tie for fourth following Thursday's first round into a two-stroke lead at 9-under 135.
Beginning the day on the back nine of the Upper Montclair Country Club, Ochoa remained even through her first six holes after playing birdie-bogey on the 11th and 12th holes.
She found her rhythm on the 16th hole, her seventh, and carded three-straight birdies to make the turn at 3-under. Additional birdies fell on holes three and five, her 12th and 14th, respectively.
