It has been the greatest year in the life of German javelin thrower Christina Obergfoll - and the celebrations have not ended.
Obergfoll finally made it to the top of the podium with her superb victory at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow in August and that success has led to her being named as the Champion of the Year of German Sports.
This leading honour is glorious reward for a woman who never gave up on her determination to win a major gold after five silvers and a bronze.
But with a second round throw of 69.05m at the Luzhniki Stadium, Obergfoll, 32, achieved her aim in a summer packed with memories.
Outside of sport, none better than her wedding to former javelin star and coach Boris Henry on September 13.
She was the dominant force from the start of the season when she triumphed at the European Athletics Team Championships in Gateshead.
Her success made her the only athlete in the history of the Championships to have won their event on all four occasions.
But her consistency has been shown throughout 2013 where also she won the IAAF Diamond Race.
