A member of the winning 2007 World Netball Championship team and with 25 Test caps under her belt, the injury has robbed Nourse of the chance to be part of the Diamonds’ bid to retain their crown at this year’s championship in Singapore in July.
Diamonds coach Norma Plummer said it was a bad loss for the Diamonds.
“She was definitely having an outstanding season this year; she’s learnt her craft and has been leading the Firebirds really well.
“Lauren has worked hard to make the Diamonds – she was at AIS with me and I always felt she had the goods to succeed. Since becoming a regular member of the team her approach to the game has improved and she’s a very talented and strong player who can turn on nothing, and release a very fast ball.”
The Diamonds squad heads into selection camp on 27 May 2011, with the team for World Netball Championships due to be announced on Monday 30 May.
The World Championships will be held in Singapore from 2 – 10 July.
