199th World Cup in ITU history to be staged on Sunday
Richards Bay, South Africa (May 1, 2008) - After back-to-back world cups in Asia, the series shifts to South Africa for the third consecutive year. This Sunday's Richards Bay BG Triathlon World Cup marks the 199th world cup event in ITU's history.
On the women's side, Mari Rabie looks for her first world cup podium appearance on home soil after beginning 2008 by sweeping the South African national championships and the African championships in Tunisia and . Olympic bronze medalist Magali Di marco Messmer of Switzerland settled for silver last year and makes her 2008 world cup debut this Sunday. Others to watch include Beijing bound athletes Ricarda Lisk of Germany and Lauren Groves of Canada.
