Tight bowling and outstanding fielding from the White Ferns restricted the Indian top order early on.
Opening pair Sophie Devine and Kate Pulford bowled with genuine pace and returned excellent figures of two for 35 and two for 38 respectively.
When Nicola Browne replaced Pulford, she too was and she picked up the valuable wicket of Mithali Raj. Browne used late swing and changes in pace to tie the Indian batsmen down and ended with 28 for one off her ten overs.
Off-spinner Aimee Mason chipped in with a tidy spell of one for 24 off seven.
Indian opener Anjum Chopra played the anchor role and made a patient 52 off 106 as wickets fell at the other end.
