New activities to boost female sports participation in Ealing
Active Ealing supported by the Muslim Women's Sport Foundation will be hosting a fun-filled, friendly sports festival to celebrate International Women’s Day 2012. The event will officially launch a range of new female only sport sessions; the Ealing ‘Us Girls’ Project is part of a national scheme to boost female sport and fitness participation in the UK.
The event will take place on Wednesday 29th February from 4-6:30pm at Southall Sports Centre, Beaconsfield Road, Southall UB1 1DP and is free of charge. Young women aged 16-25 will have the opportunity to “try out” new sports and activities including badminton, basketball, football, and dance in a female only environment.
The festival will be supported by key local partners including the: Muslim Women’s Sports Foundation, Platform 51, Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College, and Southall Sports Centre. Team Ealing Ambassador and GB track star Laura Turner will also be there to support the event and encourage women to take part in new sports activities.
Following the festival, Active Ealing and MWSF will continue to deliver year round sports sessions as part of the Ealing ‘Us Girls’ Project.
