The opening match of the 14th FINA World Championships between the women of The Netherlands and defending world champions USA resulted in a 7-7 draw. The Dutch came back from being down 1-3 in the first quarter. Both teams had chances to win the game at 6-6 and 7-7 standings but had to settle for the draw.
