Netball Australia CEO Kate Palmer welcomed the announcement today by Minister for Sport Mark Arbib of $700,000 participation funding for netball.

“As a sport that is sustained by grassroots participation and the goodwill of volunteers, this funding allows us to initiate programs that will pave the way for the continued growth and health of our game at the grassroots level,” Palmer said today.
She said that netball in Australia had earmarked the additional funding to focus on two specific areas:
Junior Participation
· Through the San Remo NetSetGO! program for 5 – 12 year olds and;
· A national schools program, including funding to increase participation for specific population groups such as indigenous, people with a disability and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Volunteers
· Developing an online education program for netball’s volunteers
