National Football Museum honours former England international.
Former England Women’s international Brenda Sempare was today inducted into the National Football Museum’s Hall of Fame.
Sempare, pictured above (bottom row, far left), played in all four of England's matches at the 1995 Women's World Cup in Sweden and helped Ted Copeland’s side defeat Canada and Nigeria (both 3-2) either side of a 2-0 defeat to Norway.
Sempare also achieved a League and Cup 'Double' with Croydon in the 1995-96 season. Her club won the National Division on goal difference from Doncaster Belles, remaining unbeaten throughout the season, and lifted The FA Women's Cup after beating Liverpool 3-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at Millwall's ground. Brenda, wearing No.9, was one of Croydon's scorers in the shootout.
The defender was inducted to the Hall of Fame alongside England’s World Cup winning manager Sir Alf Ramsey, former England, Liverpool and Tottenham goalkeeper Ray Clemence - now The FA’s Head of National Teams - Johnny Giles, Francis Lee, Ian Callaghan and Charlie Buchan.
Sempare also joins Hope Powell, Karen Walker, Debbie Bampton, Pauline Cope, Gillian Coultard, Sue Lopez, Lily Parr Marieanne Spacey and Joan Whalley in the Hall of Fame's women’s contingent.
