Moldova qualified with an easy win against Georgia | Tallinn, Estonia, Moldova qualified for the second round of the 2010 FIVB Women’s World Championship after the Pool C first-round tournament came to an end in Tallinn. Moldova finished the competition with an easy 3-0 win (25-9, 25-8, 25-13) against Georgia. In the very last match scheduled for Sunday, hosts Estonia defeated Denmark in straight sets.
Moldova head coach Mikhail Copilov was satisfied with the results of his team. On being asked what goals his team have in the second round against the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania and Albania, he replied, "We're going to fight for a place in the top three which would give us ticket for the third round. Romania and Albania are opponents against whom we have realistic chances to win."
The host team enjoyed a quick 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-18) win against Denmark to finish second in the final standings.
Estonian head coach Peeter Vahtra said, "There's not much to say. We played better in every area of the court. Overall I'm satisfied with my team's attitude and preparation. Yes, we wanted to win this home tournament and we were very close to it, but Moldova was physically stronger. This renewed Estonian national team has been working together for almost a year. It's hard to say where we are in the world, but in Europe I think we've a place in the top 25."
