Mexican pair sweep up at home in Tijuana

Mexicans Bibi Candelas and Mayra Garcia won the gold medal at Tijuana Beach Volleyball while Puerto Ricans Yarleen Santiago and Dariam Acevedo and Mexicans Xitlali Herrera and Martha Revuletas won silver and bronze

Tijuana, Mexico, September 27, 2010 – Mexicans Bibi Candelas and Mayra Garcia, regular participants on the SWATCH FIVB World Tour, won the women’s title at the Tijuana Beach Volleyball Tournament, the eighth leg of the 2010 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit.

Candelas García edged Puerto Ricans Yarleen Santiago and Dariam Acevedo 2-1 (22-24, 21-14, 15-10).

The bronze medals in both genders went to Mexican teams as Martha Revueltas and Xitlali Herrera defeated Costa Ricans Natalia Alfaro and Ingrid Morales 2-0 (21-17, 21-19)

Sunday’s Women Results: PUR d. CRC (21-13, 21-18), MEX-1 d. MEX-2 (21-18, 21-14). Bronze medal: MEX-2 d. CRC (21-17, 21-15). Gold medal: MEX-1 d. PUR (22-24, 21-14, 15-10).
