Colorado, USA, May 3, 2011 – USA’s Misty May-Treanor has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL after she had to pull out of the FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour event in Sanya, China last Saturday.
May-Treanor and partner Kerri Walsh withdrew from the second event on this year’s circuit during their semifinal bout against China’s Xue Chen and Zhang Xi and were also forced to forfeit the bronze medal match after May-Treanor injured her left knee.
“She will do physical therapy and only be sidelined for a couple of weeks,” Thomas P. McCarthy of Progressive Sports Management, Inc. said. “She is excited to return soon.”
May-Treanor and Walsh withdrew from this week’s FIVB World Tour event in Shanghai and returned to the United States where May-Treanor could visit her own doctor.
After this week's event in Shanghai, the next World Tour women's event will be from May 17 to 22 in Myslowice, Poland.
