USA’s Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh are set to reunite for the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour after a one-year break the duo announced on Monday.
The American duo, who have 77 FIVB World Tour gold medals between them, spent the 2011 season apart, with Walsh taking a year out and May-Treanor partnering Nicole Branagh. However the pair revealed that they would team up again in 2011 as they prepare to clinch a third straight Olympic gold medal in London next year.
"I'm extremely excited to partner with Kerri again, to go out and defend our Olympic gold medal, and represent the United States," May-Treanor told NBC. "We feel very strongly that London will be a great Olympic Games."
"Misty is an amazing athlete and a tremendous teammate and I can't wait to be reunited with her this season on the FIVB World Tour and in certain exhibition events at home here in the U.S.,” Walsh added.
The tandem won the 2002 FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour title as well as two Olympic Gold medals at Beijing 2008 and Athens 2004.
