Congratulations to the 2006 European Athletics Championships marathon gold medallist Ulrike Maisch, who gave birth to a son Emil last week (January 8).
The father Richard Friedrich is also a distance runner.
The 33 years old Maisch plans to return to running, “after a reasonable maternity period.”
“After all Paula Radcliffe returned after pregnancy to win the New York Marathon. It’s not the end of the road,” she commented, who has not competed in a marathon since foot problems forced her to drop out of the 2009 World Championships.
