In the run up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games we’re looking to train people to be sports officials. The LDA and Sport England have set up Official Sports London to provide funding to help Londoners aged 16+ gain qualifications and volunteer to support sport in London. This exciting programme can help Londoners to access new opportunities to volunteer in sport.
What is Official Sports London?
Official Sports London is an exciting bursary programme that helps Londoners, aged 16+, to gain sports officiating qualifications in one of 21 sports. Successful applicants can train as referees, judges, timekeepers, scorers, umpires, line judges and many other roles. There really is something for everyone.
Successful applicants will receive bursaries of up to £350 to help with course costs, license fees, clothing, uniform and equipment, travel expenses and childcare costs for both completing a course, and 15 hours of volunteer officiating. We can also offer additional support packages for disabled people and enhanced funding for existing high level officials.
