Liz Bennett and Rachel Jennings stage fine finish in Australia

 

Liz from Brokenhurst Manor in Hampshire, returned a one-under par 73 in the final round to claim fourth place. She was two-under for the 72-hole event, which was won by Australia’s Stephanie Na on 15-under. Liz has been selected for the GB&I team for the 2008 Curtis Cup match at St Andrews.


Rachel , from Izaak Walton in Staffordshire, produced the best English performance of the week with a course-record equalling 69. It was her first competitive score below 70 and moved her up to sixth place. Rachel recently won the French lady junior championship.



All five players in the English Women’s Golf Association squad finished in the top 32 and qualified for the Australian matchplay championship which starts tomorrow at Royal Adelaide.
