The Solheim Cup last month was an exciting spectacle – it was the best of team golfing competition producing plenty of drama and enjoyed by golf fans around the world. It was also great to see so many golf fans, predominantly citizens of Halmstad, thronging the course during the competition’s three days. I am looking forward to the same reception from Perth’s golf fans when the Lexus Cup is played at The Vines in December. Australia’s ‘sports-mad’ reputation is well known the world over.
Even though the Solheim Cup did not involve players from Asia, there were at least 12 players there who have played in past Lexus Cups as members of Team International. And these players are likely to feature again this year, so it was good to be able to watch them play and work out their strengths when playing in team competition.
