Rosie "Randy" Randfield was introduced to the game by her sister, and joined Letchworth's girls' XV near the end of its first season. Her background in athletics was to prove a huge asset to the team as Randy developed a reputation for being almost uncatchable once she got the ball in her hands. The flying wing developed into a powerful running centre, and picked up county honours in 2006.
A member of the local army cadets, Randy joined up early last season and was soon a selected for her corps team, playing regular adult rugby while still only 17.
Next Saturday (18th October) will see Randy's biggest challenge yet as she competes for a place in the full British Army squad when they play against Old Albanians Saints in St Albans.
The British Army women's team is close to international standard, regularly playing against national teams.
