Leopards put Tigers on the Spot.
Wessex Leopards won the women's title in the inaugural Great Britain Super League at Manchester 's Belle Vue Hockey Stadium 6th May, beating the Saxon Tigers 4-1 through goals from Jenny Hall, Rebecca Herbert, Katie Long and Crista Cullen. Scotland's Caledonian Cougars, Linda Clement, with seven goals, was the women's top scorer.

BBC Essex's Ollie Rogers , brother of England International / Saxon Tigers , Chloe Rogers, also videoed some of the action and interviewed prolifically capped hockey legend , Karen Brown about the new Super League.
The Super League was formed May last year following the signing of the Great Britain Framework agreement designed to provide a new nationwide competition that was not exclusive to national teams. It comprises of three English teams, 2 Scottish and 1 Welsh team for each gender. Its aim is to help identify and nurture players, coaches and officials able to participate and compete for Great Britain in future Olympic games. Teams started training together in March this year with a total of 260 players and 60 staff and officials supplied with new branded playing kit, courtesy of Mercian.
