Lemieux saves her best for last

July 12, 2007

Montreal, QC

In the women’s senior three-metre event, Lemieux tabulated 286.95 points for her first career national title. Veteran Melanie Rinaldi of Pointe-Claire, Que., was second at 273.40 and Pamela Ware of Montreal third at 264.65.

Rinaldi was in the lead heading into the fifth and final round of diving. However Lemieux sealed the win on her final dive scoring a string of 7.0’s and 8.0’s on a twisting front two and half, the hardest dive on her list.

‘’I’m really pleased,’’ said Lemieux, 22, tuning up for the World University Games in Bangkok next month. ‘’It makes up for a difficult year so far. That last dive is the one I’m most comfortable with. That’s why I put it last.’’
