The International Archery Federation (FITA) is pleased to announce that this year’s World Cup Final will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Saturday 27 September 2008. The venue for this event will be the Montbenon Casino’s gardens in the centre of the Olympic Capital.
The top 2 archers in the world in each Female category (Recurve Women and Compound Women) will qualify through four World Cup stages. The first three have already taken place in the Dominican Republic and Croatia in April and in Turkey at the end of May. The last stage of the year will be held in France in the last week of June. At the World Cup Final in Lausanne, the athletes will compete in semi-finals and then shoot bronze and gold medal matches.
Built in 1908, the Montbenon Casino enjoys a unique situation in Lausanne. A walking distance to the city centre and surrounded by beautiful gardens it offers an unrestricted view over the Geneva Lake and the mountains. The building was renovated in 1981 and has become a place for social and cultural entertainment. Contrary to what its name implies, the Casino has never housed games rooms.
