The third round of the Cross Country World Cup of Madrid has collected a lot of compliments from athletes, Teams, fans and media. The Organization Committee Last Lap worked hard and well in order to prepare at the best such a beautiful event.
As usual, the Women competition was scheduled preceding the Men one’s.
At the starting line, the jersey of the biker of the GIANT ITALIA TEAM, Blaza Klemencic.
The performance of the Slovenian athlete was almost in synchrony with those of her opponents. She attested in 12th position, in a group composed by the Chinese Chengyuan and Wang, the French Rode Ravanel and Leboucher, the Norwegian Byberg, the Italian Lechner and the Swiss Leumann.
Klemencic has competed against this group performing with such incredible accelerations along the strongest passages characterized also by sand.
The gap from the leaders of the competition didn’t increase a lot.
But the same didn’t happen with her opponents. In fact, the group lose during the 3rd lap some of the strongest bikers, Lechner and Chengyuan. The situation didn’t change till the 5th and last lap; Klemencic increased her rhythm accelerating along the 7,8 km long last lap. At the end, Blaza Klemencic defeated Cécile Rode Ravanel and the other protagonists of the World Cup like as Nathalie Schneitter and Laurence Leboucher, attesting herself at the 11th position.
“An important result thanks to the training planned this week. I would like to improve the performance of Offenburg and Houffalize and I did. I’m very motivated about the following events of my sportive season” the Slovenian biker has informed us by phone.
