In-Kyung Kim (67-69-69-73) closed out the 2008 Longs Drugs Challenge at 10-under-par 278, to become the season's eighth Rolex First-Time Winner. The second-year Tour member from South Korea, who held the lead since the second round on Friday, made birdies on the final two holes on Sunday to seal her three-stroke win over Angela Stanford (70-69-67-75 =281, -7). Over all four days at Blackhawk Country Club, the 20-year-old Kim racked up an eagle, 15 birdies and seven bogeys, en route to the $180,000 winner's check. Kim is the 12th different international player to win an event during the 2008 LPGA season. She said she was so excited about bringing home her first LPGA Tour trophy, she had trouble sleeping the night before the final round.
“I think it was more like excitement. I just couldn't go to bed,” Kim said. “I just kept thinking about what I was going to do tomorrow. I think I went through the course about 10 times at least last night. I think I slept like one or two hours last night.”
