Keri-Anne Payne and Cassie Patten dominate in Milan
Keri-Anne Payne and Cassie Patten dominated the podium at the LEN Open Water Swimming Cup (10km) in Milan this weekend (7 July).
The pair, who both train at Stockport Metro under coach Sean Kelly, demonstrated incredible progress a year into training for open water competition as they collected gold and silver at Milan's rowing lake.
There was just half a second separating the duo as they touched - Payne finished the gruelling 10k course in 2h 05'03"3 with Patten on her shoulder at 2h 05'03"9. Aurelie Muller of France secured bronze in 2h 05'04"9.
Britain's male contingent of Alan Bircher (University of Bath), Simon Panting (Northampton) and Richard Charlesworth (Hatfield) finished outside the top ten.
