Judo- Howell claims World Cup gold for second consecutive week

Gemma Howell won World Cup gold for the second consecutive week on Saturday
in Estonia having topped the medal rostrum in Romania a week ago.


The 21-year-old returned to action in May after a nine-month injury lay-off
and has seamlessly negotiated a move up in weight category to -63kg as the
two-time European u23 bronze medallist has claimed four medals in her first
month back competing.

After marking her return with bronze at the IJF Baku Grand Prix, Gemma won
the British Open before winning her maiden World Cup gold in Bucharest.


In Tallinn, Estonia, the in-form Briton was in clinical form as she won all
four contests by ippon.


Gemma Gibbons, who now campaigns at -78kg, repeated her silver medal from
Romania as she won two contests by ippon before losing in the final via the
same score.
