Jamie-Leigh, 14, wins Leicestershire title

Scratch golfer Jamie-Leigh Voss (pictured) won the Leicestershire and Rutland county championship at Longcliffe – at the age of 14.

The Kirby Muxloe golfer is believed to be the youngest-ever to hold the title. She became champion when she defeated county vice captain and former winner Jo Morris (Willesley Park) by 7/6 in the 36-hole final. Jamie-Leigh had seven birdies during the first 18 holes of the final.

Jamie-Leigh is also the Leicestershire schools’ champion, which she won at Cosby.

She’s fresh from an impressive performance at the English women’s championship at Ganton where she was joint leader at the halfway stage of the qualifying rounds and successfully reached the matchplay stages.
